Specialist Status
Introduction
Today's society is information rich. This information is not only transmitted in written form but more and more via complex and powerful multi media means combining sound and image. This audio visual language is complex and capable of expressing multi layered ideas using its own rules and conventions. Our students need to be able to interpret the message delivered through the combination of words, images and sound and increasingly use media techniques to communicate their own message
High order skills of critical and creative thinking are vital to be able to make connections between multi media ideas. Students need to be able to explore, experiment, question, problem solve, work independently, interpret information and formulate their own ideas based on a range of information and experiences. Media Arts Status will help students become informed and active citizens in our media rich society, leaving school literate and media literate.
There are three elements to Specialist School Status
